4. Encoders and Decoders (in progress)


Decoders and Encoders are important switching components in digital circuits. Encoders generate a digital code to indicate which one of several input lines is active. Decoders do the opposite, activating one of several output lines based on the digital code that is received. This experiment starts by designing a basic decoder circuit.

Equipment Required:

- The voltage regulator circuit from experiment 1.
- 74HC238 - 3 line to 8 line decoder
- 8 LEDs (any colour)
- 3 momentary push button switches
- suitable resistors to drive the LEDs.
